Why Glasses Don't Have to Interfere With Your Workout
Your Glasses Shouldn't Effect Your Workout
We’ve all been there before: You’re trying to get a sweat in, but you forgot your contact lenses and now your glasses are flopping all around on your nose like a flag in a hurricane. You can’t enjoy your workout because your only options are to risk breaking an expensive prescription or jog blindly down the road and risk breaking way more. It’s a miserable experience that usually ends in cutting your workout short and heading home dejected.
It doesn’t have to be that way though! Whether you’re a hobby cyclist, a marathon runner, a consummate gym rat, or play basketball with your friends on the weekend, glasses don’t have to interfere with your workout routine.
Here are a few tips that will make sure you never have to skip a workout because of precariously placed eyeglasses again.

Get a glasses strap
No, we don’t mean the shoestring that holds your uncle’s reading spectacles around his neck, we mean a strap specifically designed to keep your glasses where they need to be when you’re working out.
Neoprene straps are a great way to be sure that when you’re working out your glasses aren’t going anywhere.

Get sports glasses
You can get prescription glasses designed for nearly any sport nowadays. Whether you’re a runner, baller, or swimmer, there’s surely a pair of glasses that will work for you. If you’re thinking of a pair of specialized glasses, you should be sure to
choose one with your particular sport in mind. This is a bigger investment than some of the other items on this list, but having a pair of glasses in your gym bag that are designed for your game is absolutely a worthy investment for even amateur athletes.

Change up your routine
In the event that you have no recourse other than to use your regular glasses during your gym session, it might make sense to alter your workout accordingly. It would be a shame to miss out on exercise just because you lack the right eyewear, but it’s equally risky to put your expensive prescription glasses in jeopardy.
So instead of hitting the treadmill, get your cardio workout in by using an elliptical machine or a stationary bike. These exercises won’t cause quite as much jostling and your glasses will thank you. If you planned on joining a pickup game of ball, maybe take the day to focus on
calisthenics
or some other type of exercise that won’t send your glasses flying.

Get your glasses adjusted
Having the proper prescription to correct your vision is only part of the equation with glasses. Along with style and functionality, glasses must be sized and adjusted to fit your face just right. If your glasses are too big, they will almost certainly slip off of your face at inconvenient times. If they are too small, you’ll know because of how uncomfortable they are.
For athletes and those who exercise, having properly fitted glasses is extremely important because it will help them actually stay on your head while you are getting fit. If the arms of the glasses are feeling loose, an optometrist will be happy to tighten them up and get them working right for you.

Glasses can be way more comfortable
If you’re the type who usually exercises in contacts, you’re likely familiar with the uncomfortable dryness that occurs when you’ve been sweating for a while. Peeling your lenses off of your dried eyes is no fun either.
This is an experience that can be almost completely ameliorated by switching to a well-fitting pair of sports glasses during your workout.
